NOW, that we understand the disadvantages not partnering up with your contractors/suppliers, I wanted to talk about Successful Partnership and What it looks like.
Last week we talked about the advantages that Successful Partnership had and more importantly the positive changes on project control, as a Productive Foremen.
Such as:
- cheaper and quicker alternative solutions to a current shortage or design issue
- expertise knowledge of a product or installation, that could be beneficial to the client
- open communication, improves response times, avoiding issues and more efficient running of project
- morale and teamwork of all, are immediately improved, with efficient and effective progress in the project, resulting in completion of projects within time, budget and defect-free.
- unified front between yourself as foremen and contractors/suppliers to your client and stakeholders.
But how does it become that way…
Well, at the core of Partnership is the focus on bringing together two or more groups together on the same goal. Thats simple.
And for this to occur, they must be in-line with the intent and direction, to set the right environment for the above positive changes to occur.
It doesn’t end there, for like any relationship to be healthy, there must be a mutual understanding and respect for one another as well as trust, for it to work.
Lets break it down…
- “Mutual intent and direction”, occurs when you, as Productive Foremen and the contractors/suppliers are on the same page, in ensuring that the project is successfully completed on time, within budget and at cooperatively as a team.
- And for this to occur, there has to be a “mutual understanding and respect” for one another as well as individual opinions.
- Finally, there has to be “trust”, in ensuring the proper environment for the relationship to grow and become prosperous, over the length of project and into the future, is present.
Now remember, this doesn’t just happen over night, but is actually the result of continuous drive and persistence on your end, as Productive Foremen, in promoting and showing through your action, your intent and desire in mutually understanding and respecting your contractors/suppliers with trust.
