Top 10 Issues That Lead to Projects Falling Behind ™ – Week 4…

Welcome back,

How did everyone go in Week 3, with Poor Communication™ from our Top 10 Issues That Lead to Projects Falling Behind ™

This week, we’ll start looking into the Poor Time Management and techniques that you can use in improving the way you think and work through your projects.

Have you been working 10-14 hours a day, 6-7 days a week (total 72-98 hours/week) on a regular basis, week after week. Well your not alone. And this is only going to get worse, with foremen like yourself under enormous pressures to complete projects, on time and within budget.

It’s no wonder you do the hours they do.

But what if there is a way to reduce your working hours to 8-10 hours a day, 5-6 days a week (total 40-60 hours/week) and get more done, with less stress and more control. Well you can and it begins with Time Management, in becoming a Productive Foremen.

Now who wants to waste their time?

Well I’m sure consciously you don’t, but unfortunately its what you’ve been taught till now…

What i mean here, is that previously you were taught to be Reactive, when you were paid by the hour and so all this extra overtime meant more money. But not today, with the introduction of fixed salary or capped pay, it doesn’t matter how many hours you do, you still get paid the same.

Now it’s time to change your tactic in becoming Proactive, by improving how effective and efficient you are with your time and help you balance your work/family ratio.

So, lets breakdown the time you spend on site. It may look something like this:

  • 75% – dealing with contractors issues (reactive) on site
  • 5% – lunch break, if your lucky 🙂
  • 5% – arranging future works (programme/planning)
  • 15% – dealing with client/stakeholders, engineers, architects etc

Give us your feedback and share how you spend your hours on site to Support@Learn2Exceed.com.

Now, can you see how there is a lot of time being spent on contractors/issues (reactive), as a Reactive Foremen.

Well, some of the ways to stop this from happening, are:

  • checking regularly the works of contractors, before they become a problem/issues.
  • regularly spend time of your fortnightly programme, so that your scheduling your contractors, suppliers etc, well in advance in eliminating time delays issues.
  • plan out your day, so your spending time on what you need to do, rather than responding to things as they occur

So try it and re-arrange your time and focus towards more proactive tasks, in driving the project and team, forward, as a Productive Foremen™.
