Lack of knowledge Shared between Construction and Tender/Estimating Teams

Hi everyone,

For those of you who haven’t yet check out the FREE WEBINAR, for My Winning Formula for Successful Programming in Construction, can now find it in our STORE under Free Webinar.

So check it out!!

I thought this week, we should talk about the Lack of Knowledge Shared between Construction and Tender/Estimating. And what I’m referring to is the knowledge, experiences and database of wealth being held within the construction of these projects.

And its this knowledge of power that is being left to the sideline, whenever the programming for the tenders/estimating of project is left to estimator with little or no experience on site, working with contractors, suppliers, stakeholders and the like.

Resulting with a high level of projects that have been won, based on unrealistic or supported programmes, whether it be timeframe, sequence or even detail placed within the programme.

But what was once ignored by the client, in favour of cheaper prices has slowly been shifting to the realisation that there is no point going for cheaper programme, to end up with a slow, problematic and a completion date that was never going to be meet. Which for certain clients can cost them $10,000’s of dollars or more per day, that passes by.

There has been numerous projects, won based on programme alone, where the detail and knowledge of the experienced foremen used in developing the programme and meeting with the client, in going through it in detail and then ultimately becoming the Project Manager in driving the projects.

So as you can see the relationship between the two sectors that are usually separate and independent of one another, now needs to be more interconnected in being competitive in the violate market.

This also strengthens the importance mentioned earlier in becoming a Productive Foremen in understanding the 10 Key Causes why Foremen are struggling with project, in ensuring your chances of success are significantly increased.
